The UPLB Society of Chemical Engineering Students is a recognized academic organization founded in September
11, 1986. For the past 18 years SChemES, as it is popularly known, has been committed to the pursuit of professional
and academic excellence, the enhancement of interaction among university constituents and the advancement of the application
of chemical engineering.
From its 20 charter members, the society has grown to become an academic and social training ground for
its more than 50 resident members. Its activities include quiz contests, exhibits, symposia, student congress and others
that will upgrade the level of awareness of the student body on the technological advancements and developments in the chemical
engineering field.
With its years of recognition, the society has involved itself not only in holding various academic endeavors,
but also in community service. It has reached out its hands to our less fortunate countrymen through outreach programs,
relief operations and medical missions.
During its 18 years of existence, the UPLB SChemES played host to various major activities in and out
of the campus. This aims to enhance the growth of its members, both academically and socially. Some of its successful
activities include the 1st National Chemical Engineering Student Congress, NatSci Quiz Contest for high school students and
the Two for a Night Acoustic Concert.
